  Ibigawa Marathon, one of the most popular marathons in the Gifu Prefecture, has been selected in the “Top 100 Races” in Japan for 19 consecutive years. So why has Ibigawa Marathon maintained its popularity despite of the rain in the recent four years?

  People say it’s the beautiful autumn leaves, the warm “Omotenashi” atmosphere, and the appealing supplemental events during the race week.

  Another quality that contributes to its popularity is the price of the registration fee. The 5,000 JPY registration fee is far more reasonable than other city races who may charge over 10,000 JPY for their entries.

  Most participants either take a day trip from the Chubu and Hokuriku areas, or book hotels in Ogaki city (next to Ibigawa city) due to the lack of accommodation in the town.

  This race might not be suited for runners who expect sightseeing and recreational aspects more than the quality of the race.
