    The city of Tsukuba is located just 40km north of Tokyo in the Ibaraki prefecture. Take the Tsukuba Express train from Akihabara (Tokyo) and arrive within 45 minutes, allowing you to depart and return to Tokyo on the same day. Enjoy the tech and anime filled subculture wonderland that represents Japan’s most famed electronic sector.

    This area has been developed since the 1960’s as Japan’s leading hi-tech center, mainly by Tsukuba University and other various institutes. Tsukuba University is heavily involved as one of the organizers of this race, especially with the scientific assistance. Many of the students from abroad join in on this event as volunteers.


    The course runs flat with a 6 hour time limit, accommodating 15,000 serious runners in the full marathon and 3,500 runners in the 10km race. The registration follows a first come first serve basis, and entries are usually closed within the first 30 minutes.
