Approximately 250,000 spectators lined up on the streets of Paris to cheer on the runners and 37% of the participants were first-time marathon runners!
The winners of the race, for the first time in history, were husband and wife Paul Lonyangata and Purity Rionoripo. Paul was able to produce a personal best of 2:06:10. The 24-year old has won the Lisbon Marathon in 2013 and the Shanghai Marathon in 2015. His wife, Purity set a new course record in the women's division, clocking in at 2:20:55. It's safe to say that the speedy Kenyan duo has had quite a productive family day in Paris! The 42nd edition Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris is scheduled to be held on Sunday April 8, 2018.
