This event attracted over 30,000 runners representing 65 countries - with an astonishing 3,500 travelling from overseas. The winners of the marathon were Kenyan runners Shadrack Kipkogey (mens division) with 2:17:36, and Emily Chepkemoi Samoei (female division) with 2:49:26.
The course, consisting of challenging undulations is known to be "one of the toughest courses in Asia." Locals came outo to cheer on the runners and live bands entertained the participants at several points of the race.
