Fifty thousand runners are able to participate in the 33rd edition of the Dam tot Damloop on Sunday 17 September. This event is so special because of the great atmosphere, the unique passage through the IJtunnel, one of the largest Business runs in the world and the fact that the start and finish are located in two different cities. The main distance is 10 English Mile, with every year some top athletes at the start.

A day earlier, on Saturday evening September 16, the Damloop by night takes place. A maximum of 15,000 runners will cover a distance of 5 miles (8 km) in the dark, through the lit streets of Zaandam. The newest part of the biggest running event in the Netherlands is particularly attractive for novice runners, but is also perfect as a warm-up for the 10 English Mile on Sunday.

The events are part of the Dam tot Dam Weekend, which, with over 87,000 participants, is the largest sporting weekend in the Netherlands. On Saturday 16 September Le Champion will also be organising the Dam tot Dam Wandeltocht walking event for 16,000 walkers. The following day up to 6,000 cyclists will compete in the Dam tot Dam FietsClassic cycling event.
