The Ehime Marathon is held in Matsuyama City, the capital of Ehime Prefecture which is the largest city in the Shikoku Islands. Ehime is located 50 minutes away from Osaka, and 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Tokyo by flight. With a capacity of 10,000 runners and a 6 hour time limit, this full marathon attracts visitors from many different areas.

You first see Matsuyama Castle, standing on a 132 meter hill in downtown Matsuyama. Then you run along Japan National Route 196 with modest undulations while enjoying the view of the Seto Inland Sea. After passing two tunnels, you head back towards the finish line located in Matsuyama Park by the castle.

The goody bag includes their original cap, towels, and a hot spring ticket. Complimentary massage, taping services, and a relaxing foot bath is available for your pleasure. Various snacks and foods are also distributed, including Ehime’s famous dish, Imotaki, a savory taro dish simmered with various vegetables and chicken.

This area is famous for the oldest hot springs in Japan, and is home to the Do-go Onsen Honkan, a Meiji Period wooden public bathhouse dating from 1894. Downtown Matsuyama has easy access to the Dogo hot spring resort. Take the time to relax in Japan’s oldest hot spring and enjoy the delicious local favorites that Ehime has to offer.
