    Sakura City is located in northern Chiba Prefecture, with a population of 180,000. Sakura City is located 40km northeast of Tokyo and 15km from Narita International Airport, about an hour and a half from downtown Tokyo. The Sakura Asahi Kenko Marathon is held in March with the 10km division consisting of 5,000 runners and the full marathon division consisting of 6,500 runners. The time limit for the full marathon is 6 hours, and the course is partially hilly and windy.

    The chairperson of this race is Mr. Yoshio Koide, the former head coach of Ms. Naoko Takahashi, gold medalist of the Sydney Olympic Games Women’s Marathon Division. The athletes of his club work as volunteers in this marathon.


    After the race, visit other attractions such as the National Museum of Japanese History, Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art, Samurai Houses, and Shrines to complete your stay.
